Matters Arising

No matters arising.

Playground Development

Catherine Peers updated the meeting on the Playground Development.  Catherine showed us the proposals which includes pergolas, play huts, timber gazebos, upright games and new markings.  Full details can be viewed on the PTA website. www.holyfpta.com   Some help may be needed by parents for initial groundworks.

Fund Raising

Andrew Dickson gave an overview of a Fund Raising website which he has been looking into.  It is called www.buy.at    You access the website, which will include the school name www.buy.at/HolyFamilyPTA (to be confirmed) and then you can enter retailer websites, e.g. BT, John Lewis, Early Learning Centre, M&S and for any goods which you purchase the school will receive a % of the cost.  It is free to set up.  This idea was well received by everyone.  Andrew will research further and set up a link for the school.  Report back at next meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

Paul Roebuck passed round copies of the accounts and talked them through.  The May Day Fete was very successful this year and, so far, has raised £7,000 with another £2,000 to come.

May Day Fete

Anne O’Connor and Peter Kehoe thanked Yvonne Brophy for all her hard work organising the Fete this year.  Yvonne, in turn, thanked all the people who helped before and on the day itself.

Yvonne passed round Feedback forms which need to be completed.  It was suggested that we should buy some party gazebos/marquees which we could use as outdoor refreshment areas.

-2-

Underground cabling and lighting to the container is now urgently needed.  James Finnigan estimated that this will be about £500-£1000.  He will obtain quotes and hopefully the installation will take place in the first couple of weeks of the summer holidays.

A May Day Fete Sub-Committee will be set up now to review this year’s Fete and get a good start for next year.  The first meeting to be held on Tuesday 6th June, 7.30pm in the Red Lion Pub, Langley.

Family Fun Evening

Date set for 22nd June at 6.30pm.  Families to bring their own picnics.  Madeleine Shepley offered to book the Disco.  A suggestion was made that we hold a football tournament during the day with the semi-finals and final being held in the evening.  Anne O’Connor will speak to Mr Bolger reference this.

Any Other Business

?         New Parents Evening : It was decided that the forms which we ask new parents to complete will be amended - they will no longer include the tick boxes at the bottom, just a blank space with the question ‘What would you like from your PTA’.  It was also decided to hold a ‘Social Gathering/Information Evening’ on Wednesday 13th September and invites will be given to new parents when they attend the parents evenings in June and July.

?         Christmas Panto : Michelle Dwyer is booking Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for Friday 15th December at Windsor Theatre.  Tickets will be £11.

?         Incubating Eggs : It was mentioned that schools can obtain eggs, complete with full incubation kit for the children to watch hatch.  The cost is @ £250.  Once hatched the chicks are returned to the farm where they were from.  Anne O’Connor will check with Clare Wingfield, this may be something she is already looking into.

?         Indoor Ice Skating : It is possible to have an indoor ice rink laid in the hall.  Maybe a good idea for Christmas time.  Yvonne Brophy will get further information and report back at next meeting.
